Ingredients

Scale

12 ounces ziti pasta

4 cups marinara sauce

15 ounces ricotta cheese

3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh herbs (optional)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook ziti pasta in salted boiling water until al dente (8-10 minutes). Drain without rinsing.

In a bowl, mix marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, and one cup of mozzarella until well combined.

In a greased baking dish, layer half the pasta, followed by half the ricotta mixture, then half the remaining cheeses. Repeat layers.

Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly.

Notes

For added nutrition, toss in cooked spinach or sautéed vegetables.

Substitute ground meat for a heartier option or use a plant-based alternative for vegetarian baked ziti.
