Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon baking soda

– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1 teaspoon ground ginger

– 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

– 3/4 cup unsulfured molasses

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)

– 1 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves.

3. In a separate bowl, cream softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy. Add the egg and molasses, mixing until smooth.

4. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.

5. Form tablespoon-sized balls of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them evenly.

6. Bake for about 10 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown. Allow to cool on wire racks.

Notes

– For an extra flavor twist, consider adding chocolate chips or nuts to the dough.

– Experiment with chilling the dough before baking for thicker cookies.
